Neerja (2016) Hindi Movie starring Sonam Kapoor and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles, is a biographical thriller film based on hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan on 5 September 1986, is directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by Atul Kasbekar and Fox Star Studios.
The film is shown from the point of view of the flight's head purser Neerja Bhanot who thwarted the hijack attempt by alerting the pilots, hence grounding the plane and saving the lives of 359 of the 379 other passengers and crew on board, giving her life in the effort to save the others.
Kavita Seth, K. Mohan, Neha Bhasin, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shekhar Ravjiani have lend their voices to the songs while the music director of this movie is Vishal Khurana and the Lyrics are penned by Prasoon Joshi.
